Finally it’s Reggae Gold time! This year as well the freshest compilation of reggae tunes will be released soon. VP Records delight us with 20 big hits and crossover tracks from the past year. This time in the bonus cd we can find a mega-mix of the hottest reggae tunes, mixed by Seani B from BBC 1Xtra. In 2015 for the first time Reggae Gold has four exclusive tracks.
The compilation starts with the Canadian reggae-fusion band Magic! with the smash hit “Rude”, followed by the rock-reggae song “Made In California” of Jah Cure. The third tune is from the veteran singer Beres Hammond, called “Jamaican International Dance”, followed by the big tune on the Intoxxicated riddim titled “I’m A Big Deal” of Christopher Martin, Gully Bop’s “My God Dem Nuh Bad Like We” and “Body Specialist”.
One of the biggest tunes of Reggae Gold 2015 is Busy Signal’s “Text Message”, followed by the hits “Syvah” by Ding Dong and “All On Me” by Gyptian. Almost r’n’b single by Dexta Daps titled “Morning Love” is fresh and a bit sufferer style, like Movado’s tunes. Of course without Vybz Kartel and Spice single titled “Conjugal Visit” Reggae Gold wouldn’t be complete.
The second part of Reggae Gold is a little bit soft with Toian singing “Love It”, a sweet reggae tune, Ikaya with “My Man”, Jah 9 with “Avocado”, the masters Sly &Robbie, Spicy Chocolate ft. Romain Virgo with the song “Star Across The Sky”, Yasha’s “Karma” and Etana with “I Rise”.
The compilation is concluded with “Jah Jah” by the actor Eddie Murphy, “I Can’t Breathe” by Queen Ifrica and the great remix of Jacob Miller’s “Tenement Yard” singed by Inner Circle and the exponent of reggae-revival Chronixx.
This is the best Reggae Gold I have seen in the last 3 years. It is a beautiful collection of hits dancehall, dancehall-crossover and reggae-revival. A must have!
